Corrections
Every change to a published figure is logged in public. Anyone named may reply, and the reply is published unedited.
Send the correct figure and the document it comes from. If the document supports it, the entry is changed, and the change is listed below with the date and what it was before. No correction is made silently and none is deleted.
This applies equally to agencies, ministers, officials, contractors and members of the public. A correction from the organisation an entry concerns is treated the same as any other: it is checked against the document, not accepted or refused on the basis of who sent it.
Any organisation or office-holder named in an entry may send a response of reasonable length. It is published alongside the entry, unedited except for length, and it is not rebutted in the same place. Where a reply disputes a figure, the dispute is recorded in the entry itself rather than left in a footnote.
An entry recording that a figure is not published is a statement about the public record, not about anyone's conduct. The quickest way to remove such an entry is to publish the figure, and this register will record that it was published and by whom.

What happens next. A reply from an organisation or office-holder named in an entry is acknowledged, with the date it will be published. A correction from a reader is checked against the document it cites; individual replies are not guaranteed, and the outcome appears in the correction log below.
Your name. Readers who raise a correction are logged as "Reader" unless they ask to be named. Organisations and office-holders are named, because their replies are published.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-08 | NZ-PD/RD/08 | "Stage 1A $230m, Stage 1B $495m — $725m for Stage 1", compared with the 2019 allocation of $423m and the 2021 baseline of $655–720m as one cost series. | "$230m and $495m, both construction cost only — $725m of construction across Stage 1." The whole-project cost of Stage 1 is recorded as not published, and the 2019 and 2021 figures are recorded as not comparable with it. | NZTA's project page labels both figures as construction only. The 2019 and 2021 figures cover the whole project. The dollar values are unchanged; the description and the comparison were wrong. Corrected the same day it was published. | Register review |
| 2026-10-07 | NZ-PD/DW/01 | "Weathertightness repair cost, consensus estimate — $11.28b" | "Weathertightness economic cost, consensus estimate — $11.28b (repair + transaction costs)" | The figure was right; the label understated what it covers. PwC states "the total economic cost (i.e. repair and transaction costs)". The dollar value, $11,284m in 2008 dollars, is unchanged. | Register review |
Published in New Zealand. Every figure is quoted from the source linked beside it. If you hold a figure this register records as unpublished, or you believe an entry is wrong, the corrections and right of reply page says how to have it changed, and changes are logged in public.
